In the winter of 2019, Jordan Alexander formed a band that embodies the energy and simplicity of the music he loves – from 50's rock n' roll and doo-wop, to early punk rock and 80's hooks. Not a far cry from his work in Wild Light, Alexander wanted to push his knack for melody and lyrics in a way that allowed for powerful live shows and impactful, memorable recordings. 

 

In the fall of 2020, Young In France began playing shows regularly in and around their hometown of NYC. It was during this time that the band tirelessly worked on new music and honed their live set. Drawing from their diverse backgrounds and the backdrop of the city, the band spent countless hours in their midtown rehearsal space at the famed Music Building on Eighth Avenue. Not far from the lights and fuckin' crazies of Times Square, Young In France focused on creating a sound that blended melody with the quick-hit approach of their punk rock roots.

 

On February 22, 2022 (2.22.22), Young In France recorded their first EP in 3 hours, live in their rehearsal space. "Winter Cuts" was released later that year on Christmas Day. It captures the band in a moment, raw and imperfect, with no overdubs, in homage to their organic sound. You can hear the city in the songs, from the rumble of the Music Building to the sirens on the avenue.​

 

The band continued to work on new music while playing shows and headlining venues throughout NYC – including a coveted opening slot at the 1,000-capacity Melrose Ballroom. On December 16, 2023, the band recorded their follow-up EP, "Summer Cuts." Finished in several hours, the EP was again recorded live, this time at Brooklyn venue, Warsaw – set up onstage, captured like a live performance. "Summer Cuts" will be released on June 21 (with a special release show/listening party held that night at Bowery Electric), preceded by two singles – "Run Run Run" (May 10) and "Fire in the Rocks" (May 31).​

 

With new music being written daily, Young In France already has their sights set on their next release, and on their upcoming shows in NYC and beyond.
